After seeing a nuthatch darting around in my garden, I was inspired to capture this remarkable acrobat in a series of four small oil paintings. The nuthatch, with its blue-grey plumage and lively personality, moves with playful agility along tree trunks. This fascinated me so much that I decided to paint it in various poses, each capturing a moment in time.

In each work, I deliberately chose a contrasting background. One half of the canvas is black, while the other half is filled with a warm color that contrasts with the subtle blue-grey of the bird. This contrast creates a dynamic tension that highlights the nuthatch's energy and movement.

Although the four paintings form a series, each piece is strong enough to be displayed individually. Each small painting captures its own unique moment of the nuthatch, bringing a distinct atmosphere to any interior.
